VINTAGE PLOUGHING RULES
                            TRACTOR
                          • In both trailing and mounted plough classes, all models of tractor must have been in production before 31st December 1959.
                          • PLOUGHS
                          • Trailing– any standard plough is eligible
                          • Mounted– any standard plough is eligible having been in production as above
                          • Bodies, skims and discs to be designed for plough at time of manufacture
                          • Bodies to be in ploughing position at all times
                          • All plough bodies to be used in work on the last run
                          • ALLOWED
                          • Modified plough shares
                          • Adjustable stays on plough mouldboards
                          • Quick entry or slotted top links
                          • Weights on tractors and ploughs
                          • Standard drawbars
                          • Only approved diesel engine conversion
                          • NOT ALLOWED
                          • Extended wheel axles
                          • Hydraulic top links and other rams
                          • Chains and lats
                          • 4WD conversions
                          • Two piece adjustable tailpieces
                          • Screw adjustments on cross shafts, unless as manufactured
                          • No other attachments allowed
                          • Non standard or remotely adjusted drawbars.
                          • TIME ALLOWED
                          • Opening 20 mins
                          • Judging of opening 40 mins
                          • Plot completion To be advised on day
                          • Cast off made after finishing 15 mins
                          • Penalty for failing to finish Disqualification
                          • A finishing signal run may still be completed
                          • OPENING
                          • Double opening split – no land left unturned
                          • START
                          • The start shall consist of 11 or 12 furrows
                          • Competitors must cast towards the next highest numbered plot
                          • FINISH
                          • The finish shall consist of the last 8 furrows.
                          • The last furrow to be cast towards competitors own start
                          • PLOUGHING
                          • Minimum depth to be reached on completion of ‘start ‘ and adhered to until commencement of ‘finish’
                          • Depth to be at Hosts’ discretion on the day, stewards to advise
                          • Width of ploughing – at competitors’ discretion
                          • GENERAL
                          • No rolling of furrows allowed, except in the normal course of ploughing eg “finish”
                          • Twin tractor wheels not allowed.
                          • Three sighting poles (one pole may be placed on the headland)
                          • No assistance allowed, except when setting and removing poles
                          • Handling, shaping or treading of scratches or furrows is not allowed
                          • Only one tractor wheelmark allowed at finish
                          • Extraneous attachments that affect or manipulate the furrow are not allowed
                          • Clearing of straw from plots only by competitors
                          • Competitors must produce evidence of age of tractor if requested
                          • Only one round allowed per finish
                          • Competitors should plough in allocated plots only
                          • SAFETY
                          • Passengers not allowed on tractors at any time
                          • No riding on Plough or tractor drawbars at any time
                          • The Safety Policy to be adhered to at all times
                          • The safety of spectators must be considered at all times
                          • PENALTY DEDUCTIONS
                          • Rolling of Furrows or Scratches when the plough is not in work 20 points
                          • More than one wheelmark at the finish 20 points
                          • Casting the finish the wrong way 20 points
                          • Failure to plough the specified depth (per cm below specified depth) 20 points
                          • Failure to adhere to the Safety policy Disqualification
                          • Failure to finish within the specified time Disqualification
                          • FINAL DECISION
                          • The Chief Ploughing Steward and Chairman shall decide on any question arising and not provided for in the above rules.

                          • VETERAN TRACTORS
                            The Association is indebted to the owners and drivers of the Veteran Tractors which will be competing during the day
                            TURN OUT JUDGE: Roger Gibson
